Hey there! I’m just sitting here on my couch watching the rain come down for like the 5th day in a row. But I got to thinking, I haven’t written a blog post in forever. And with spring just days away, what better to write about than whats to expect on the flower farm this year.
As you may know, we planted our first round of peonies in the fall of 2019. To allow the roots time to grow strong, we had to nip the flower buds off last year. This year, though, we are excited to be able to harvest our first blooms to share with you all!
We have hundreds of tulips and daffodils coming up right now and I cannot decide which I am more anxious to see. I’m leaning towards tulips though, as we’ve got some real stunners.
Come May we’ll be planting dahlias again. We’ve tripled our varieties and will have nearly 500 plants in the ground! So many different sizes, shapes, and colors... it’s going to be awesome.
And in addition to that, we have countless other flower types that we’ve been seeding since January and have already been transplanting a few into the field. We’ll be doing many successions with the goal of having flowers to offer all season long.
As we did last year, the farm stand will be open again for pickup of premade arrangements and grab-and-go bouquets. I always share the details on our Facebook and Instagram pages - but if you want to make sure you don’t ever miss them - sign-up for our email list. I promise not to spam you :)
I’m so looking forward to sharing our flowers with you this year. And I plan to be at the farm stand in-person as we, (hopefully), get past this pandemic. Its been a long year, but 2021 is looking to be beauty already!
